A Bacon Triple Play!

So is everyone ready for the November round of Six Degrees of BACON?????

This month, I'm going all out and connecting not one, not two, but THREE stars to Bacon. And, as always, I'll be using actors who haven't appeared in the previous months.

The November poster is a 1940 Hollywood musical from 20th Century Fox called "Down Argentine Way," starring Don Ameche, the Brazilian Bombshell Carmen Miranda, and Betty Grable of the Million Dollar Legs (back when a million dollars was a million dollars.)

Like all movie musicals of the era, the plot is thin as Saran Wrap. In the US, Glenda Crawford (Betty Grable) buys a horse from Argentinian Ricardo Quintana (Don Ameche), but the sale is canceled when the Ricardo's father objects because of a long-standing grudge against the Crawfords.

However, when Glenda visits Argentina on vacation, the pair disregard their family feud and fall in love while entertained by Carmen Miranda and the Nicholas Brothers.

I started my march to Bacon with Don Ameche and got to him fairly quickly. Then I wondered if it was possible to link Carmen Miranda to a Bacon film (it was). Of course, that meant I had a total of 13 films for the year, and being a major triskaidekaphobe, I decided to use Betty Grable as well.

So let's get started.

Don Ameche was in "Trading Places" with Dan Aykroyd,

Who was in "The Blues Brothers" with John Belushi.

Who was in "Animal House" with KEVIN BACON!!!!

On to Carmen Miranda, who was famous for singing with lots of fruit on her head.

Carmen Miranda was in "Copacabana" with Grouch Marx,

Who was in "Love Happy" with Marilyn Monroe,

Who was in "Some Like it Hot" with Jack Lemmon,

Who was in "Glengarry Glen Ross" with disgraced actor Kevin Spacey,

Who was in "Seven" with Brad Pitt,

Who was in "Sleepers" with KEVIN BACON!!!!

Finally, it's Betty Grable

Who was in "How to Marry a Millionaire" with Lauren Bacall,

Who was in "Murder on the Orient Express" with Ingrid Bergman,

Who was in "Cactus Flower" with Goldie Hawn,

Who was in "Bird on a Wire" with Mel Gibson,

Who was in "Lethal Weapon" with Danny Glover,

Who was in "A Rage in Harlem" with Forest Whitaker,

Who was in "The Last King of Scotland" with James MacAvoy,

Who was in "X Men, First Class" with KEVIN BACON!!!!!!!!!

Whew. That took some effort. I need to rest up for the last movie poster in December. See you then.
