Joy of the Dawn

Good Mornin’, Y’all! Ruby Mae here again with another post for you! First things first though, I have a praise report. My power is back on! Yay!!! Thank You, Lord! Okay, now on to today’s post.

I’m so glad the power is back, but I gotta admit, living without power for a few days made me appreciate our Pioneer ancestors. Especially when it came to cooking, lol. For the first time in my life I fried biscuits in a skillet over a fire like they did on the trail. Lol now that was an experience I won’t soon forget. And lets not forget heating water over a fire for washing. Oh, and the wonderful candles and lanterns for lighting at night. Makes me wish I could go back in time and learn a few things and come back a bit wiser.

I think the biggest thing I learned to appreciate was the lack of distractions. It was so easy to remember to pray and spend time with God when the luxury of electricity and electronics were taken away or extremely limited. I guess that’s why they call ’em the good ole days. They were close to God, because they lived simply. They spent time with God and Family because it was more important than keeping up with the Times.

Wouldn’t you agree that the world would be a better place if we all lived life a bit more simpler like they did in those days gone by?

Many Blessings,

Ruby Mae
