Jack And Jill Plays - Part 66 - Pinter Watermelon

Pinter Watermelon

by Adam Szymkowicz

(JACK and JILL at a picnic table eating watermelon.  A MAN enters, sits at the picnic table with them.)

JILL

Um.

JACK

Hi.

(MAN says nothing.)

JILL

Can we help you?

JACK

Are you lost?

(MAN says nothing.)

JACK

Maybe he doesn't speak English.

JILL

Do you speak English?

(MAN says nothing.  Continues to stare at them.)

JACK

Are you mute?

JILL

Are you choking?

JACK

Is someone watching us?

JILL

Are we in danger?

JACK

Maybe he just really likes watermelon.

JILL

Do you like watermelon?

(MAN says nothing.  Slowly, he takes a handgun out and put it on the table.)

JILL

Whoa whoa!

JACK

We can sit somewhere else.

JILL

We'll go.

JACK

We can leave the watermelon.

(JACK and JILL slowly back away.  They leave the watermelon.  MAN whistles.  His friends and family come and sit at the table.  They eat the watermelon.)
