Though provoking. Like some others have pointed out, I comment when feel compelled or prompted. I only clap when an article makes me laugh, or teaches me something.

On a platform like Medium, it’s important to read and comment on each other’s posts. For me, it’s about mutual gain rather than self promotion.

Some people probably comment just for the extra attention it brings to their profiles. But that usually doesn’t work well for them. My strategy for success on Medium is pretty simple: write the best content I can on a consistent basis, and be a thoughtful reader.
