Nostalgia Critic’s It Review Premiere

Last week, the entire Channel Awesome crew hosted a Premiere at Hollywood Blvd. in Woodridge, IL. I went to see it for a number of reasons: 1) been a fan since Doug reviewed every episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender series; 2) to see the review early before everyone else; and 3) just to get out of the house on a Thursday night. And boy, what a night it was.
I never been to Hollywood Blvd. but have heard of all the movie memorabilia scattered around. Also, having the Blues Brothers on top of the building really was a site to see. Going inside I was impressed how the concession stand décor resembled the Chinese theater in Hollywood. Actor busts are in showcases around where the cast and crew were setup, so unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take a quick picture of it. However, it was fun talking to many people who came from all around to see the review as I had. Two people from Ohio drove five hours and planned to drive back in the same night!!!
[image error]Being the early-bird that I am, I was right up front to meet them and talked about a few things like their reviews, how they influenced me in writing my latest book (Dragon Fighters of Natoma), and things that they’re planning for future reviews. I won’t say what they have in-store, but the Walker’s have been doing this for ten years. They know what they doing.

I also purchased a print where the entire cast signed it. This was $15 well spent, talking to everyone, exchanging a few laughs, and just having a great time.

While everyone was getting autographs from the cast, Barney Walker, Doug and Rob’s father, entertained everyone in the theater with hilarious stories, like every parent, of Doug and Rob growing up. Seriously, Barney could make this a routine, and it will be popular. Unlike common theaters, Hollywood Blvd had servers that served you at your own seat. Their menu ranges from small appetizers and soft drinks to pizza, beer, and liquor. If you saw Doug’s advertisement on his reviews, you knew there was a one drink and food purchase. The prices are moderately affordable and their Bullwinkle Brownie ala Mode is a chocoholic’s dream.[image error]
Before the Review started and once everyone was in the theater, Doug had allot of stuff for his giveaways. Some included a collection of DVDs that is offered on his website, copies of the prints, a few posters, three copies of the Stephen King book It with the 1990’s miniseries. The grand prize was a PS4 and five games, which I won!!! I still can’t believe it. The irony thing is I already own the console and most of the games. But I passed it along to my friend who will get allot of enjoyment out of it along with the games I already own.
After the giveaways, the audience got to see a little animated clip were Doug and Rob cracked jokes about it like Mystery Science Theater. This was a nice appetizer to the review, where I was laughing every single second. Then the review played and boy was it enjoyable. I won’t spoil anything simply because I would not do it justice. Check out his review on his site at http://channelawesome.com/it-2017-nostalgia-critic/ on Tuesday or on YouTube on Wednesday.
Afterward, they spent an hour or so taking questions from the audience. You can bet that I will be present at their next premiere. It was a fun night and I can’t wait until I see them again live.
