Seventeen-year-old Elle Collins has spent most her life waiting for someone else to die…

When a heart donor is found, Elle awakes from surgery gifted with more than just a new heart. Clairaudient messages and spiritual apparitions haunt her until she is convinced that she must be insane. Either that, or her donor is sending a message.

Desperate for answers the medical community can’t provide, Elle’s divination leads her to the family of her donor, a young girl named Cas. With the help of her best friend, Rob, the guy who’s proof that her new heart is capable of love, Elle must make sense of the clues Cas is sending. As pieces of Cas’s life and death emerge, Elle will discover that she and Cas share more than just a heart.

Elle Collins has been dying her whole life. The only thing that can save her is a heart transplant which means someone else has to die. When it was almost too late a donor becomes available and Elle gets her new heart. What she doesn’t expect is to be connected to that donor in a supernatural way. The donor talks to her and leads her to find out the mystery behind her death. Elle is surprised to find that the mystery is very close to home.

In an Oyster Shell – A book with great suspense and a supernatural storyline that is slightly subtle.

The Pearls – I liked the concept of the story that’s why I chose to read it. I was not disappointed. Having a girl be connected paranormally to her heart donor was interesting and well executed.

The characters were distinct and well developed. Elle was a good character to empathize with. She was also very smart and figured out what was going on. I liked her neighbor who also turned into a love interest. The supporting characters were well-defined and added depth to the story.

I liked the mystery that I found in the story. I was reading it more for the paranormal aspect but it had an intriguing plot line.

The Sand – The ending was anti-climatic and slightly unbelievable.

4 Pearls!
