Abundance

Happy Autumnal Equinox (Mabon) - night will soon outpace daylight, but I love this crisp, thrilling time of year where the air is alive and summer's carefree frolicking gives way to the steady rhythms of harvest.

Today I passed 5,000 followers on Twitter. That's still rather mind-bending to me and I'm so excited that so many friends here and on Twitter have joined me on this writing journey. To celebrate I'm holding a 5K follower contest and giving away 5 prize packs! 5 is a special number to me at this moment - not only do I have 5,000 Twitter followers but tomorrow I celebrate 5 years of marriage to my wonderful husband! So much to be thankful for!

In addition to a signed paperback of Nightshade, the prize packs include items that inspired Nightshade: Watership Down by Richard Adams (Calla's favorite book), Sandman by Neil Gaiman (Shay's favorite graphic novel), Zum Bar Sandalwood Citrus soap (From the first time I smelled this soap I instantly knew it was reminiscent of Ren's scent), and a blank notebook so you can begin, or continue, your own writing journey.

To enter: Tell me in the comments (or in a tweet) something that inspires you, if you're leaving your entry in the blog comments be sure to include an email where I can contact you. Winners will be randomly selected on Monday, September 26 so you have through the weekend to enter.

Thank you so much for being a part of my writing life - it means so much to have you here!

Aileen Well I guess as a mom I can say that my boys have been my form of inspiration pretty much since I found out I was pregnant. It's amazing watching the grow and figure things out as the move along in this world make their own little footprints in life. They inspire me because they remind of the joy life can be and bring in its simplest ways, a flower growing, a butterfly landing on my hand, the stars on the night sky. Everything they see, hear, experience is an never ending adventure. They help keep my imagination and creativity Sharp because let's face it, its hard to fight a dragon when you can't see it...lol. Well I hope one day you'll have a little inspiration brought to your life in the package of a beautiful child that makes life all the more exciting and magical.

ILoveBooks My mom inspires me. She is shockingly patient with me, I am not the easiest person in the world (read-OCD in the extreme...especially about school). She honestly rarely gets upset, I have been a pain to her for quite a few years and she almost never so much as raises her voice. She is very gentle; she gardens a lot with our elderly neighbor and fosters animals in need of a home. In our household, both my dad and me are strong personalities...she never complains or argues...almost at all (seriously, it's unreal). What is probably most amazing about her is that she never does complain, no matter the circumstance or cause. She helps me in school, she helps me with the flute and piano, she is loving and caring, she is the calmest person I know, she LOVED your books (makes her automatically more awesome), and she was such a good parent-I honestly can't say anything that would exemplify how amazing she really is. edysicecreamlover18@gmailDOTcom GFC Krystal Larson

BlackroseBlackheart My dad really inspires me. When I was 5 he had this terrible car accident, broke around 10 bones including his right leg and left arm, and 3 fingers. Despite him being such a mess, he was back to his job in 2 months, and never complained once about it, although even now, 10 years later, he still winces in pain whenever he has to pick up something with his left hand, or if we walk too fast in the park. He's always told me to try to overcome my obstacles, however big they might be. Even though going to the airport with him is a pain ("No, sir, I do not have any other metal things on me, it's just the 10 titanium rods inside me causing this machine to beep."), I still love him very much. Sometimes his leg swells up when the rods move around, but he never says a word. To be able to tolerate pain like that just so you can do your job and be able to put food on the table for your loved ones... for me, that's the greatest thing anyone could do.

He's not just my dad, but by friend, too. And I think all parents should have that quality, so that we can have a stronger bond together.

Morgan The people who inspire me are my family. Each person in my family has something different to inspire me.
My brother is a diabetic. He has to check his gluclose and get poked with needles for the rest of his life unless they make a cure! I am almost 14 years old my brother is almost 13 years old and in all the memories I have my brother was never bitter he didn't let it get him down! My brother was diagnosed 7 years ago! My brother showed me that being different just made you extra special, and to keep going no matter what life throws at you!
My mom has asma and she inspires me everyday to be a better person. My mom has let us have pets for as long as I can remember even though she isn't supposed to have any pet dander. My mom has always been strong and making sacrifices she shouldn't make. I can't even be mad at her at all for getting rid of our dogs. My moms the best mom in the whole wide world and never trade her for anything. She has taught and inspired me so much that I don't ever want to lose her!
Sometimes I am scared I am going to lose her. The fear of losing her has inspired me to appreciate things for as long as you can!
My dad is in the military and him being in the military makes me think of brave you have to be to lay down your life for others! My dad motto is to never say can't! He has inspired me to do thongs I never thought I could do! My dad has inspired me to be a FBI agent.
My sister is 7 and she inspires me in how outgoing she is. She has inspired me to strive harder at being a better person!
