8 simple ways to become a better writer

Anyone who takes their writing seriously knows that getting better is a constant part of a writer’s life. We are often our worst critics.

Here are 8 simple ways in which you can become a better writer.

Write daily:
If you want to improve your writing you need to write as much as possible. Period.Read daily:
Just like we need food for sustenance or a vehicle needs fuel to go along, consumption of writing is necessary for creation.Consume stories:
Reading is not the only way to consume stories. Watching movies, T.V shows, Theater plays, art and even news can also be ways in which you can surround yourself with storytellingImitate but not everything:
You can try to imitate your favorite authors. But do not imitate their technique. Rather try to imitate the mood, the atmosphere and the emotion that their writing evoked in you.Respect deadlines:
Respecting deadlines ( self imposed or otherwise) will make you write regularly while also training your mind to come up with better ways to structure and convey your thoughts quickly.Don’t respect rules.
While you respect deadlines, do not respect all the rules of writing. Writing is ultimately an art and as much as it helps to know the rules, you need to break them now and then to tell your story in the way that only you can do.Deconstruct:
Whenever you read something try to deconstruct why it works and why it doesn’t. It will give you some insight into what triggered your reactions to that piece of writing.Reconstruct:
Once you are have deconstructed a piece of writing, try to reconstruct the same emotions and the same structure in your own writing to see if you can successfully evoke the same kind of reaction from your readers.

Happy writing!
