Fall. I’ve never known a real fall before. I’ve read that the air smells delicious and that the leaves are gorgeous. But I’ve never smelled the air, nor seen the leaves. In Florida we have our own seasons, our own subtle changes to the way the earth smells and feels and is. But those seasons are more along the lines of the tropical way of being--they are monsoon, and dry, and hot. Not Spring or Summer. Definitely not fall.
And now I am in the mountains and fall is coming. I want to savor it. My first real fall.
I notice the trees swaying in the breeze. Watch the sun cross the sky. Hear the wild turkeys call good morning to each other. The coolness of the dawn sends chills up my spine. And I ask myself: is this fall?

Do you live in a place where the seasons change? What about a tradition to welcome fall? Tell us all about it in the comments below!
