New editions of Gospel Hour and Cry Me A River are now available (sort of)

The electronic editions of Cry Me A River and Gospel Hour are up for sale at B&N for $2.99. The Kindle version of Gospel Hour is available at Amazon for the same price. Cry Me A River is being held up "in review" because the geniuses at Amazon (oh wait, that's Apple) don't seem to believe I am the author and hold the copyright to the book. I don't quite know why they've decided this. I'm not sure they know. I've asked, but so far I'm getting monolithic silence.

I have been informed that Amazon cares deeply about copyright issues. I wouldn't know anything about that being . . . you know. . . a writer.

Like the New York City subway, Amazon is great when it works and a Kafka fever dream when it doesn't. More later.

UPDATE: Cry Me A River is now available in its Kindle edition at Amazon. Apparently, I wrote it.

Mark Glad to hear you are who you say you are :) You will get a royalty from me for these two books as I have enjoyed reading them and they will make a nice addition to my Kindle library. I hope the Ray Tatum project is going well. I would love to see your writings adapted to television.

T.R. Pearson Hi Mark,

Let me know if the electronic versions have formatting problems. They should be okay, but odd things crop up.

As to Ray Tatum, I am just this minute in L.A. pitching the Ray Tatum TV show to the networks. It's been a long, slow process, but pretty fascinating. I should know more in a week or so.

Thanks for commenting. trp

Mark Mr Pearson, The only formatting problem I've found in the e-book version of Cry Me a River is that on several instances a new paragraph will begin in mid-sentence. You probably aren't allow to say, but I hope that one of the networks you spoke to was FX. They are slightly more allowing as to violence and language which would adapt well to some of Ray Tatum's adventures.

That formatting problem is the result of a hiccup when a scanned physical book is converted to Word. Some paragraphs get broken up. I try to catch them all as I'm converting to e files, but I clearly don't succeed. I'll make another pass. Thanks for the input.

I did not talk to FX. They seem to think Justified is enough for them. I did, however, have a lively meeting with the folks at USA, the "Characters Welcome" people. More to come.

Terri I love Justified! Am reading Warwolf right now and it reminds me of Justified in many ways. Interesting you should mention that. I hope things work out with USA. I'd enjoy seeing Ray Tatum translated to TV. Too bad they already have Timothy Olyphant committed to Justified - he'd make a great Ray!

Enjoying Warwolf. Excellent and entertaining as always. --eleanorrigby

I'm still waiting to hear from USA but am already working on the pilot script for the studio. One way or another, somebody is going to end up with Ray Tatum. Yes, too bad about Timothy Olyphant, but we'll find somebody. I'm glad you're enjoying Warwolf!

Mark Mr. Pearson, The E-version of Gospel Hour has a few problems. Most significantly is that many of the words that have a "tl" in them have those two letters replaced by a "d". For example litde instead of little and shordy instead of shortly. Not every word is like that only about 30% of them.

The story is excellent. I grew up in Pulaski and have visited every town and driven every road in your books. I feel like I have met or am related to many of your characters. That is what makes your books so enjoyable to me. I can picture in my mind what the characters look like without being told exact height and weight which many authors feel is neccessary. The people in your books are completely real and believable.

I continue to wish you the best on bringing Ray Tatum to television.

Sorry about the problems with the text in the electronic version of Gospel Hour. The reformatting from scanned book to Word seems to create all sorts of problems. I'll work through it and clean everything up but probably not at warp speed.

I'll be reporting on Ray Tatum's TV adventure soon. I'm just waiting for some loose ends to get tidied up. Thanks for the vote of confidence.
