Peter Tillman Yay! But -- we have to wait until May 2018! Dammit.

Re: SM Lover, Tanithe Lee: Here was her fave Vance quote:

“I would offer congratulations were it not for this tentacle gripping my leg.” Jack Vance, Cugel’s Saga

Plug into your FB page (if such exists) for a cool little Easter egg. Or someone elses. Trust me on this.

That's a great quote!

Peter Tillman And I suppose you've read Charlie Stross's (former) sexbot survivor stories? The subltler one is "Neptune's Brood", which thought I'd written up....

Nope, but my 2013 booklog says
"A/A+, excellent, money fast & slow, slightly nerdy heroine, Bad Robot Mom...." Accounting fraud is involved. Do read it, if you missed out the first time. I think you'll see some similarities to MB, so maybe you already did? I should reread it.

And hi from a former Houstonian (Rice alum), long, long ago. Eliz. Moon vintage. Did you get her "Planet Bissonet" ref?

No, I hadn't read that one. Thanks for the rec!

Peter Tillman >her "Planet Bissonet" ref?

Ask her sometime. She still lives down by the border, en Tierra Caliente? We were actually classmates, but never met. TRG, TRB. You can ask her about that, too. And sinking sidewalks! Which the recent torrential downpours brought to mind. Rice Gnomes, too. And the steam tunnels! The blessed A/c in the Fondren libe, when little else had it. Ah, nostalgia....

Peter Tillman Hard to imagine, now, living in south Texas w/o AC. But of course people did, for millenia. I was born in New Orleans, where my parents had a really crummy apt, all they could find postwar -- until my Dad was accepted at LSU for his Masters. My Dad actually built a house there, while in school! Hard to imagine, as he was even less handy than me, which is pretty sad. Farm boy, too. No wonder he went away to school! We were tougher, then....
