Hard to imagine, now, living in south Texas w/o AC. But of course people did, for millenia. I was born in New Orleans, where my parents had a really crummy apt, all they could find postwar -- until my Dad was accepted at LSU for his Masters. My Dad actually built a house there, while in school! Hard to imagine, as he was even less handy than me, which is pretty sad. Farm boy, too. No wonder he went away to school! We were tougher, then....
