You always dream about a dreamer.
A charmer, and a heartwarmer—
Patrick Swayze in the summer
Teaching you how to dance.
You want the real deal,
But don’t you know,
Real isn’t dance lessons,
And if it is, you’re not going to
Learn all those moves in just one week.
It is going to take months and years
Of practice, practice, practice.
It’s going to hurt and it’s going to
Make your feet ache
And your heart break
And when you’ve swallowed every last drop at the bottom of the barrel
You’ll have to keep on practicing,
Because if you stop for a minute,
You’ll lose it all.
You want a real love,
Well you got to keep practicing
Your way.
You have to teach your heart that
Love is solely meant for you,
And you deserve the real deal
You have in your mind.
You have to practice the mantra “I am okay, I am worthy,”
Over and over again.
Practice and practice and practice.
You have to know that its the hardest to let go and start again,
It’s hardest to move on.
It is hardest to still stand after
All those dance lessons.
You just want to sit down and rest
For a while,
But if you do
you fear you might lose it all.
Practice patience,
And rest.
Work on your self esteem
Not your hypothetical scenarios.
It is okay to take a break as long
As you know you won’t give up on that dream of yours—
Dreaming about your dreamer,
Your real deal.
Go put your feet up,
You’re worth some rest,
And you’re worth some love.
You’re worth some songs
And you’re worth some laughs.
You’re worth all that dreaming
