Mandy is a mess in the relationship department. Her husband of 2 years was killed in action by an IED 5 years ago and she's not dated since. Her friends think it would be a great idea to set her up with a guy who has "issues" from the waist down, as they put it because she's turning into a nun. Malcolm was a playboy who was known to have Pep both on the ice and in the sheets, so for him to not be engaged from the waist down is something of a myth. When their mutual friends stand them up for an emergency and they meet by "fate" chemistry and heat have a way of taking everything out of their hands. Throw in a rambunctious 5-year-old boy and you have a really cute story of love and loss. Jade made this story for me and because I love kids in stories...he made this a 5 star read.
I was really expecting a laugh out loud book, but what I got was a sweet poignant look at what it's like to be a single mom and have to be both parents. I loved the fact that there really wasn't a lot of angst and drama in this. For it having such deep themes, it was kind of lighthearted and Malcolm made it ALL worth it!! I fell in love with that man and when you find out what he does for a living after he retired from hockey it will have you swooning. I thought there was way too much sex for my taste, BUT everyone knows that I like my sexytimes understated and not thrown in every other page SOOO I knew what I was getting into before I signed up. I'm not going to knock a star off for that. I thought the plot was well thought out and it was unique in the execution. I never read the novella which at the beginning the author talks about, so all of it was a surprise for me. I know this is going to be shocking to some, but this was my first novel by this author and I loved her. Now, it makes me want to go back and read her other books which I have on my kindle, but just never read (why I don't know!!) So, now I'll be reading her rom-com when I have a free moment! Pick this up for you and maybe a friend - so y'all can talk about it over coffee...that's what my friends and I do
