Harvey may force 30,000 people into shelters while flooding will linger, officials warn – The Washington Post

We all learned from Katrina that shelters are not the safest places to be. The possibility of loosing your home can have devastating effects on a person mentally, physically and medically.

Let’s pray that Texas remembers this little fact and provides for needed security and medical and mental health personnel inside all shelters. I know the Red Cross has volunteer disaster teams with these types of personnel as well as clergy who respond in times of need.

If you have family affected or simply want to help shelter people there are organizations that you can contact.

We pray that the government and charity organizations are better prepare this time around.
