You can’t pull a “he had a black friend” when your son commits an act of terrorism in the name of white supremacy, also has swastikas and shit on his facebook.


I think we all know of families where the parents are wonderful people and their kid just turned out the wrong way so I don’t believe in blanket familial blame. But what I do blame parents like this for is willful ignorance. If someone in your family is turning into a fucking Nazi terrorist, you can’t just “let it slide” and continue to give them material support. You have to disengage. You have to speak up. 


It’s kind of haunting that if his mother hadn’t supported him by watching his cat while he went off to Charlottesville, Heather Heyer might still be alive today.



I don’t actually believe she didn’t know. Note that knee jerk defense of Trump. She might not have known what he planned to do, but she knew her son was a racist and she thought it was no big deal. I’d also bet the friend she references is a kid from high school who can barely remember her son’s name. Or a coworker.
