I was going to give a gluten-free pizza recipe today, but then some friends alerted me to the fact that,
yet again, someone is ranting about the evil straight women writing MM.

Seriously? We're having this discussion AGAIN?

Certain people can't seem to grasp that MM romance is FICTION. It is not a how to on anal sex. (And for the record, even if it was, women have anal sex too) It is not supposed to be based on real life. It's not supposed to BE real life.

What readers want is FANTASY. That's what most successful MM romance authors are serving. MF books AND MM books are FICTION. I've rarely met any female OR male character I could identify with in the MF romance books I read growing up. I didn't throw a tantrum about it. I just moved on, realizing I was reading FICTION.

If nothing else, it would be nice if these angry authors could grasp the concept of fantasy. Because maybe then they'd sell some books. It's about the dream of love, not the day to day grind. If you can grab on to that, maybe you'll be able to write something readers want to read.

Or you can sit around and rage that evil straight women MM authors are the reason you don't sell. It's your call.
