As many of you know, I have a zero tolerance to anyone who hurts or abuses animals. I am by nature a pacifist who doesn't believe in violence as a solution to anything, but people who attack children and animals push me to the point where I would happily reconsider that stance.

NOT THE BABY RHINO MENTIONED
One of my news feeds this morning brought up a Discovery News story about
a baby rhino that was rescued after poachers killed his mother. Now, normally I wouldn't even go look at such a story, since I have no tolerance for animal abuse stories (and they will, in fact, give me nightmares for weeks), but this one had me so incensed, I popped over to read it since the happy ending of the baby rhino was assured in the feed title.
I'm just appalled that people like these poachers exist. I'm horrified that the poaching is increasing. And I'm sickened by the fact that there appears to be apathy about stopping the poachers.
There's little I can do personally to stop poaching in Africa, other than to hope that more public awareness, even if it's to and by people outside South Africa, will stir an interest in ending it. Maybe if enough of us show we're not going to turn a blind eye to such atrocities, we can help.
I think I'll go make a paper voodoo doll representative of all the evil murdering poachers. I don't care what my husband will think when he comes into my office to find a bunch of paper voodoo dolls hanging by their little paper testicles! There's just some things that a girl has to do.
