Ugh

A message I posted on Twitter to Heather Brunskell-Evans, a so-called "feminist" academic who insulted my work in her latest book:

As a trans woman I am appalled by my work being used as an example of misogyny. My work IS feminist... it's just more fun and sexy than yours.

The Twitter format didn't leave me room to respond to her also accusing me of racism. In one of my early stories a white asshole with an Asian fetish enjoys humiliating his girlfriends by forcing them to pretend they're schoolgirls with thick, stereotypical accents, and one of his ex-girlfriends gets revenge by turning him into a girl straight out of his fantasies. It's lurid stuff, basically a kink version of a Tales from the Crypt twist ending. But racist? To paraphrase Joseph Heller, some people have lots of intelligence and no brains.

Brunskell-Evans also gets in a swipe at He's Stuck as a Schoolgirl. The book is a comic-drama fantasy about a sexist, wannabe warlock who is forced to start his life over when he accidentally transforms himself into a little girl. At first he thinks being a little girl is humiliating, but he learns a whole new respect for girls and in the end he chooses to stay female. Anybody who has read it will tell you that the entire book is about him learning to let go of his sexist attitudes. I'm fairly sure that Brunskell-Evans didn't read the book, but just saw the title and decided to attack based on that.

Brunskell-Evans has drastically over-simplified and misrepresented my work (and the work of many others) to suit her anti-kink, anti-trans agenda. I won't be shamed into silence by her or anybody else. After spending too long in the closet, keeping my weirdness to myself, I am thrilled to share my stories with an audience that enjoys them. Viva transgender transformation smut!
