talking about dialogue

There are still a couple of places left in my coming up in Brisbane on Sunday 25 September at the Queensland Writers' Centre. Come along if you want a day of investigating dialogue at close range. We'll look at some conventions of writing dialogue, and the basic technical nuts and bolts. We'll be looking character. We'll be looking at passages of dialogue that sing and dance, from writers ranging from JD Salinger to Jane Austen to Flannery O'Connor, and examining why and how they work so well. How can we apply these lessons to our own writing? We'll be workshopping class participants' works in progress. Class exercises are designed to progressively build up and edit passages of dialogue in stages during the course of the day.
