The Red Balloon

The old lady glanced up at the constellations once more. Still there. So was she.


She took a red balloon from her pocket, blew it up to near-bursting, and let it go. It drifted away, encountered thorns, and popped.


She sighed, leaned back, gazed into infinity, and fell up into the stars.
