The World He Lived In

The World He Lived In
by Gabe Redel

He gave
and twice more was given to him.
He saw himself
as an excellent person
and that was exactly
how everybody else saw him.
He knew that treasure
was around the next corner
and when he turned that corner,
the treasure was right where he believed it would be.

All that was needed
for the people in his life
to discontinue doing the things
that he did not find acceptable
was to ask them to stop doing those things
and they would. They would stop.

One thought,
one time to break the fear,
no hard work,
no necessity to earn identity,
people who always change on the spot,
people who think about you
more than themselves.

That was the world in which he lived,
but he did not see
for a long time
that he was the only one who lived there.
