Knitting How to: Make 1 M1 Invisible Increase

As you continue to increase your knitting skills you will find that there are many options to complete different tasks. The amount of ways to cast on and bind off are endless. You will also find many ways of increasing and decreasing. One of the techniques you can use to make an almost invisible increase is to work a make 1.

Make 1 increases are typically written in your pattern as a M1. Make 1 increase are made up of the string that is between two stitch on the row previously created.

Be sure to check what your pattern says, sometimes it will tell you if you should create a Make 1 Right or a Make 1 Left. The difference is the way that you enter your hook into the yarn loop. In the video I show you the best way to accomplish a Make 1 if there is no notation in your pattern.

Typically this increase is not done back to back, there are stitches in between. If you would do them back to back it would tighten the row below.
