First look at Kotobukiya’s ‘IKEMEN’ Nightwing statue at SDCC 2017.

He got da booty

So Kotobukiya premiered the illustration for this statue last year in a life sized art piece on the side of their booth.  As I was ‘admiring’ its glory (thank you Ricken, you have blessed us again) a small boy comes up next to me.  With a borderline stern face that was actually frankly adorable, and without even looking at me he asks ‘that’s a girl, right?’

First.

It’s ALMOST not a question the way he intones it.  Even while asking me, he is, like, 90% sure he knows this is a lady.

Second.

You have to visualize that this kids head is almost perfectly level with Dick’s butt.  And yes.  The illustration they put up featured the assets most proudly.

Third.

I’M DYING.  And trying to figure out how to tell this kid that:  Nope.  That there’s a man.  And WHAT A MAN.  And there is healthy community of folks that are ridiculously pleased to have him in their lives.

Me: ‘He’s very feminine.’

The kid throws up his hands in exhaustion.  I feel like maybe this had been happening to him a lot in the anime section of  SDCC ‘16.

It was the funniest shit.  It was all I could do not to bark out laughter.

This statue will be released February 2018.

And they premiered the illustration for NEXT YEARS Ikemen statue and it’s Red Hood.  So we have more of this to look forward to.  It’s not saucy.  Todd’s just being an angsty baby.  But damn, who doesn’t like a Jason Todd statue?
