What's your love language?

[image error] The other night my hubby and I were sitting at the table playing dominoes. It's kind of geeky but it's our thing to play a game together in the evening. We sit and talk and play dominoes, Scrabble, or trivia. But, I'm digressing. He started reading my daughter's driving school information while we were playing. I was annoyed he wasn't paying attention to me. But, I let it slide figuring everyone was allowed some personal choice, and it was one night, it wasn't like it happens every time. Then, BAM!, in my inbox the next day is an email about the 5 love languages created by Dr. Gary Chapman. I thought, this is kind of cool, so I took the quiz. It turns out, I value quality time with a person over all other ways a person could show they love me.

Here's what Dr. Chapman has proposed. We all seek confirmation that we are loved, but we value different types of confirmation. He has put these in five categories he calls the 5 love languages.

1. Word of Affirmation - you like hearing the person tell you how they feel!

2. Acts of Service - you value tasks another person does for you!

3. Receiving gifts - it's not about materialism, but it's your cue that the person is thinking of you.

4. Quality time - when that person is spending time with you, just one on one, no distractions.

5. Physical touch - Hugs, kisses, and being held are important to you.

Dr. Chapman's test ranks the importance of each language once you've answered a series of ten questions. Once you complete the test you receive an email explaining more about each love language and your score in each category. Quality time was most important to me, followed by physical touch, words of affirmation, and acts of service. Receiving gifts was last on the list with only a score of 1.

It seems like this can be a cool thing to know about a significant other, child, family member, or bestie! For the most part, I'm guessing we pick up on cues without really realizing it, but if we've missed something, then maybe we could improve our relationships.

Take the quiz and see what you think! It's only 10 questions long! Here's the link or click the button below! http://www.5lovelanguages.com/

Wishing you the best,
Tricia
