PUTTING ON MAKEUP.

A failed makeup video.

Yesterday I tried filming a makeup tutorial. With the lack of a tripod, I tried putting the camera on the fireplace and hoped for the best.

It was chatty, and it was an okay video, but because I was so far away, I opted to scrap the video, and instead turn it into a blog post.

In this photo up here, you get to see the framing: it was pleasing to look at, but definitely a bit far. Also, I turned around cause my lights started flickering.

After writing about how pretty and warm the weather has been here, about a week ago, it completely turned and now we have less than 20*C on a daily basis. Hoping the sun will come back, but still, even clouds can be pretty sometimes, and anytime it rains, it’s so cosy.

I’ve started off by applying this Too Cool for School foundation. It matched my tan better than the paler foundations I have been using, and it has medium coverage. I particularly like its scent, and I’ve been liking to use a beauty blender to apply my base cause it gives a more natural finish.

Some good makeup favourites have been from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting collection, particularly this bronzer and the blush down here.

These two go well with my skin tone, and I like how highlighting they are, so I can cut down on one step when I apply my makeup in the morning (if I’m doing a quick makeup look).

I’ve been also using this eyebrow pencil I’ve recently reviewed. I still love the design, but a small complaint is that none of the shades available fully match my natural eyebrow colour. Not a big deal, but I do wish one of them did.

Onto eyes, I’ve used my Natura palette. This is honestly my go to, both for simple and more intense makeup days. You can actually get free global shipping today using the code marzipans at checkout, if you are interested!

I’m using all 5 in the photo up here: ‘rosa’ as a base, ‘foglia’ on the inner corners, ‘sole’ from the inner corner to middle, ‘fuoco’ to deepen the crease and ‘rame’ to darken the outer corners.

I’m using this black eyeliner from Illamasqua, which I like because of easy it is to apply the product with this tip, which is stiff enough to give you plenty of control. It dries feeling quite chalky, but looks sharp and intense.

Once again, for the mascara I’m using the one I wrote about from Pretty Vulgar. I’m using it more and more because, as I said, it really does curl the eyelashes on its own, which is nice.

The final step is lipstick: this one is from Em Cosmetics, by Michelle Phan. Emma told me how impressed she was with her new stuff, so I was excited to give it a try.

I have to say, I really like the lipsticks! The application is easy, the product is smooth and buttery, and it’s matte but feels very hydrating and fades wonderfully. Plus, the colour selection is great, and the best thing, in my opinion, is the scent! Not sure if it’s cocoa butter or something else – all I know is that it’s tempting to eat them.

After filming this video I completely forgot to pose for a close up, and instead went out to grab groceries.

On the way there I saw this plant, which flowers looked so stunning against the red brick.

For the past 3 days, my evenings have consisted on watching Glow, which I’ve just finished and loved it (have you watched it?) and playing Hotel.

I used to love this game so much, so I brought it back out and now Felix and I can’t stop playing.

I keep losing, by the way. But it’s so good.

Anyway, because I failed at making this video, I’m thinking that I will vlog tomorrow, so that should go better!
