I don't think I've seen you draw black characters / features until the 2004 Heavy metal Sci-fi special you recently reblogged. Any reason you don't do much? (Most of your girls are thicc/large, I guess I mean black men) (no I don't count sachmett

the 2nd published series I did around 99′ (Universe so big) was about a black woman, Mari and her brother, Jaxson –

Mari wasn’t ever shown in the sexual way I draw more women these days. Sometimes I think my work was coming from a different place pre-porn.

I did some pre-Universe stuff with Jaxson too. I feel like I drew a wider variety of races in the past – Maybe that’s because Warheads has only 3 main human characters that are all white. My next series has a black woman as one of the lead characters too (mostly because I wanted to draw Josephine Baker)

I wonder if part of it is that when it comes to things like showing the experiences of black people in comics I’d rather see someone who comes from that background talk about it than just my ideas on it– but like I said– I DO wanna draw Josephine baker so that’s also enough reason for me.
