SEVENFOLD SWORD: CHAMPION and FROSTBORN: THE BONE QUEST

For SEVENFOLD SWORD: CHAMPION, I’m going to give away a free short novel. Specifically, FROSTBORN: THE BONE QUEST, which will be the combined six THE BONE QUEST short stories and novellas: THE BONE ORCS, THE SKULL TREES, THE DAGGER JAWS, THE GHOST HALFLING, THE RUIN GATE, and THE ELDER SHAMANS.
THE BONE QUEST was an interesting experiment that I don’t think I’ll repeat.
Originally, for the FROSTBORN short stories, I wrote a new short story each time Ridmark got a new companion on his quest – THE MAGE’S TALE, THE THIEF’S TALE, and so forth. The trouble was, by the ninth book Ridmark stopped getting new companions. So I decided to try prequel stories around Ridmark’s early days as the Gray Knight, and I decided to link those stories around his quest to the Qazaluuskan Forest.
The problem was that this basically turned THE BONE QUEST short stories into a serial, and people really don’t like serials. I got a lot of complaints along the lines of “why isn’t this a novel!?”
That said, of all my short stories, THE BONE QUEST has sold the best. Sometimes the marketplace is mysterious.
