vergil was a notoriously slow writer (if we are to believe the ancient sources that tell us that he wrote the eclogues in 3 years, the georgics in 7, and the aeneid in 11, then there is a point in his life that he was writing an average of less than a line a day), so can you imagine what it would be like if he were a fanfic writer to have to wait for him to update after he’s just pulled some cliffhanger shit in his most recent chapter where dido kills herself out of love for aeneas
immediately after posting this i realized how foolish this comparison was because vergil was a fanfic writer. he was the most famous iliad/odyssey fanfic writer of his time. fuck
