Father’s Day stirs up emotions for me because I’ve missed having a relationship with one. Although knowing there is no guarantee that my father and I would’ve had a close bond, it’s still an absent anchor of my life.
You see I was born while my mother was a high school teenager with no father recognized on my birth record. She went back to receive her diploma and then got married a few years later. So I did have a stepfather. A brother, sister and then another brother followed over the next seven years. But my stepfather didn’t legally adopt me.
