Something for your summer reading pile (stack, heap, mound, hillock . . .)

description

Here's a new novel for you, which comes with the attached copy:

A corrupt police detective enjoying semi-retirement in Tidewater Virginia stumbles onto an unsolved homicide that, given his nature, he’d be happy to leave unsolved. But a few people in his life have other ideas and drag him into an investigation that offers a chance for some small measure of redemption if he’ll only take it. As murder squads go, this crew is no A Team — just an adolescent kid from up the block, a mouthy, conspiratorial-minded paraplegic, and an unhappy housewife our rotten cop met by chance in a Trader Joe’s. What these three lack in savvy and expertise, they more than make up for in blundering determination, so THEORY OF THE CASE becomes the story of one man’s trio of mongrel friends refusing to let him go on being what he’s been.

It's a real book. Lots of Norfolk underbelly, no Ray Tatum. The electronic edition will be a mere .99 cents for the first couple of weeks. But if you insist on a physical book, that'll be $10.99. Paper is dear.

Please do enjoy/review or detest/slag . . . whatever works.

Meg Oh boy oh boy. I am home today with AC repairmen. I *thought* I'd get some chores done, but my plans have just changed!

message 2: by T.R. (new)

T.R. Pearson Never know. This one might turn out to be a chore as well. Happy reading.

message 3: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Just when I was looking for something to read, I get this alert!

Craig Woo-hoo!

Boom - happy days!

message 6: by Mike (new)

Mike Just in time! A Pearson novel is just what I needed right now. Thanks, T.R.!

message 7: by T.R. (new)

T.R. Pearson You're all welcome. I hope you enjoy the book.

message 8: by Jane (new)

Jane Perfect timing for me, too. I was watching Bloodline last night. Mrs. O'Bannon's short scene was the best part of the show. It made me long for more of T. R. Pearson's delightful white trash. I hope I find some in the underbelly of Norfolk!

message 9: by T.R. (new)

T.R. Pearson Yes, you will. Extra creepy white trash.

message 10: by Adam (new)

Adam Armour Bought. Can't wait to dig in.

message 11: by Beth (new)

Beth How exciting is this?!? Heading to Amazon right this second-

message 12: by T.R. (new)

T.R. Pearson Let me tamp down the excitement -- kind of a beach book, sort of, a little.

message 13: by Ralph (new)

Ralph I don't get on Goodreads very often these days, but when I do, I get a big ol' pleasant surprise. Thanks!

message 14: by T.R. (new)

T.R. Pearson Thanks, RL. I hope you enjoy the novel (if not the formatting).

message 15: by Ralph (new)

Ralph You have a long memory. Just bought it--looking forward to the read and the formatting.

message 16: by Mark (new)

Mark Thank you very much. I bought the book yesterday and began reading last night. I recently read Peter Temple's Jack Irish series and Ken Bruen's White Trilogy. Both were very interesting crime novels. I was trying to decide what to read next when I got the notice from Goodreads about your blog update. I always enjoy the characters and humor in your novels. I'll give a review when I've finished. Thanks again.

message 17: by T.R. (new)

T.R. Pearson Thanks for being in touch, Mark. I hope you enjoy the novel. What did you think of Peter Temple? I'm pretty keen on him.

message 18: by Mark (new)

Mark T.R. I enjoyed the Jack Irish series. The Aussie slang took some time to get used to, but I was able to get the gist of the meanings. Ken Bruen writes in British/Irish story lines. Both series have characters whom are flawed which adds to the stories. I'm enjoying Theory of the Case. Gus and Dwight are quite humorous characters. Having to go to work every day cuts into my reading time. Hope all is well with you and your family.

message 19: by T.R. (new)

T.R. Pearson I don't know Ken Bruen's books, but I'll give one a try. Glad to hear you're enjoying the book.

His Inspector Brant books are my favourites.

message 21: by T.R. (new)

T.R. Pearson Advice taken. I'll plunge ahead.

message 22: by Ralph (new)

Ralph Hi T.R.,

Really enjoyed the book--one of your best.

Formatting was fine, but it could have used another round of proofreading. Put me on the list of volunteers for next time.

message 23: by T.R. (new)

T.R. Pearson Will do, on the proofreading, and thanks very much for your review. I do appreciate your good opinion.

You don't really believe in meritocracy, do you?

message 24: by Beth (new)

Beth I'm also REALLY enjoying it - and if you're looking for proofreaders next time I will happily volunteer too!

I keep meaning to ask - any word on the TV series?

I really do, but it seems to be a losing proposition.

message 26: by Andrew (new)

Andrew I would like to second Beth's question on the TV series. Would love to see some Pearson-esque folks on the tube.

T.R. Pearson R.L. -- let's ask President Trump

Beth (and Andrew) -- glad you're enjoying the book, and the TV stuff seems to have gotten killed at the network, but you can never be sure with this stuff. I'm doing some ghostwriting in the meantime.

Just to keep the record straight: I think that election outcome is an example of plutocracy, not meritocracy.
