And so it Begins…

Now that the Keepers of  the Stone trilogy is officially out, I’ve decided to use this space –at least partially — to put some of the inspirations, theories, historical references and anachronisms that went into writing the books ‘out there’. You can do with these what you will: read them as they come out/all at once (spoiler alert!), read chapter by chapter as you go along (recommended). Or, if you prefer, just ignore them completely.


When I set out to tell this story, I always maintained that I was doing so for myself. That hasn’t changed. The idea behind writing these notes is partly to define my own positionality vis a vis the tale I’ve written. However, its also to contextualize the story told in Keepers amid research on identity formation, my own world travels, and historical studies,  all of which indelibly make Keepers of the Stone the work it is. In so doing, I hope these recollections, commentaries and explanations serve to enrich the enjoyment and depth of the reading experience. For myself. And for others.


To start us off, above are my thoughts on the prologue from Book One. Is it dense? Sure, I admit. But, I argue its necessary. And, if not for a certain experience, it could have been dry as well. Here’s why….
