Hi there! Love your work! I'm a long time follower, first time questioner and I was wondering how much you charge for the different sized original pieces you sell at cons? I'm an artist myself and I LOVED how you had them all set up in a portfolio, looking
Hello Katie!
Thank you! I just started out with the new method of displaying my portfolio and it seems to have yielded great results. I have them bagged and boarded with prices still at the top. They’re loose in a box so people can just flip through them and pull them out. It’s a selling trick that if you can get something physically in someone’s hands, they’re that much more likely to buy it.
As far as prices go. Some of it is emotional, depending on how much I like the piece personally…
But generally.
Small pieces go for 10-15 USD.
9x12 go from between 20-35.
And 11x17 can go from 75-100. But I rarely go up to 100…
If I notice some pieces have been around a while I will dock them down to try and move them.
And there’ll always be pieces that just WON’T move. And, well, it might inspire ire but if a piece fails to move for a few years I just flat out get rid of it. I just don’t want to hold on to it anymore. And also, it gives me room to freshen up the variety of original art with new pieces, without overwhelming people with a huge stock of illustrations.
And yeah, you hit the nail on the head with the storefront issue. I don’t have the time to list all the pieces available for sale there. But I am considering putting up the linework for more popular posted illustrations up. I’m just super behind on a few items on my store. >_<
Thank you so much again!
I hope that helps. Just use your best judgement. Don’t undervalue yourself at first. As time goes by you’ll get a better handle of which price ranges work best for you.
