#minutewriters - in which I feel very sleepy while talking about “feel/felt.” And I realize my exhaustion probably does not equal clarity so the gist of the video is: Using “felt” can be very distancing for the reader, so use that to your advantage and harness “felt” when the emotion you’re trying to get across is alienating/distancing, OR when you’re going for brevity, which is def needed at certain points in your book. But otherwise, try to make the reader feel the emotion without necessarily telling them that they should feel sad/happy/angry/etc. Yes, I realize this is a fun and painful writing exercise, but doesn’t ALL writing make us FEEL (
