Announcing a new Patreon Campaign!
Can you believe it’s been seven and a half years since Cybrosis went live? I know. I can’t either. So much has happened since then that as I look back, I almost don’t recognize myself.
Life has moved me in some very interesting, exciting and amazing ways over the years and while I don’t regret anything, the one thing I wish I would have been better at was asking for help. I am an independently published author. I have two novels to my name and part of the reason it has taken so long to get the second one out has been the age-old issue of time and money.
Time, I can manage. If everything goes as I would like it to, the audio of Slipspace Harbinger will be available by the end of the year, the print of the next Slipspace will be available next spring, and the audio of THAT project will be in the summer of 2018. I’ve been spending the past several months, lining up projects and streamlining the process to make that happen. Time is easy.
Money, however, is not. Money does flow to the author, but I am not only that. I’m an indie publisher, which means there are costs – Professional editors, layout designers, cover artists, and yes, audio book narrators. This is where I must ask for help.
So, with that in mind, I’m announcing the launch of my Patreon campaign. For those of you who do not know, Patreon is an ongoing crowd funding site where patrons can support their favorite content creators. It is like Kickstarter with two major differences. First, the campaign is ongoing and donations are paid once a month. Second, there are goals for certain milestones in pledges.
Right now, I’m offering contributions at the 1,5,10, 15 & 25 per month levels, with rewards at each level. These include, access behind the paywall for exclusive content to publish at least once per month. Other rewards include, free eBooks, ARC’s, print novels, and even the opportunity to be named in a story.
Milestone goals are set at $150 in total donations where, my ‘infrequent audio updates’ will turn into a once monthly podcast available exclusively for Patrons. At $300 per month, all patrons will receive an early release of my audio fiction in its entirety before it goes live on any other public paid or free platform. That’s right… you’ll know how the story ends before ANYONE else will hear it begin!
So please give it some thought. I’d love to have your support if you’re able. If you can’t, I fully understand. Please pass the word to your friends and others who might be interested.
