Hamsini so well written, lakshmi! i love how you embrace being a snowflake and enjoyed your vivid transformation from an apolitical person to an engaged citizen, thanks to your life experience! I wonder, though, how many desis who immigrate there, become engaged (and informed?) citizens!

Thank you! I believe most people become politically awake only when policies affect them directly. In my case special ed and health insurance. Also again being exposed to a world far away from the one I inhabit in terms of education and wealth is and eye opener.
