I’m an educator. And also a reader. And of course a writer.

“I cannot live without books.” (Thomas Jefferson)

We cannot educate with books. If you’re in Japan, stop by Nara on June 18th and find out how we can help our students enjoy reading.

It's a bit far for me, Thomas, but kudos for the good work. On a personal note, when my eight-year-old son was being threatened with having to redo a school year because of his reading skill, I asked him what he liked to read--he said, "Mad Magazine." I proceeded to buy every Mad Magazine and Book I could find, and by the end of the summer, he was two reading grades ahead of his classmates, not one behind. He does have a unique sense of humor to this day, though.
