Into the Abyss Audio Edition Now Available

Hi,

Into the Abyss is now available from Audible/Amazon and the iTunes store (audio book only).

Running time is 25 hours. List prices is about $33 depending on platform. Audible subscribers can listen for free or with credits.

Owners of the e-book, in theory, can add Whispersync for a much reduced cost. However, since Amazon "thinks" I bought the paperback and have the e-book as a matchbook, that apparently doesn't count.

(Why did I buy my own book, rather than buy author's copies? Shipping and speed of delivery for gifts to family/friend (in Europe, it's actually cheaper to buy and ship from Europe to Europe than an author copy plus shipping) (and in US, it's just a lot faster so I've done both)

Anyway, if someone that does own the e-book would let me know if they see the lower add-on cost, that would be nice of you.

Thanks

T-A-G

Super! Thanks. Stephen's done a lot of great work.

Gary I own the e-book, and I've checked on both Amazon and Audible. Neither is offering the discounted rate for owning the e-book. Audible doesn't even show the possibility of getting a discount by buying the e-book, usually it has a link to the Kindle store and mentions the discounted price when it's an option. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I will totally buy the audiobook when the discount shows up :)

Daniel Mcconville The ones where the discount applies tend to have that feature where your e-book updates and your audiobook place updates as you switch between the two. I'm not sure what feature of audible / kindle is required for this to work, but this title doesn't seem to be one of them. Personally if these books came in Hardover I'd pay top $ for those as well because I know it supports the author. Just getting to the end of the audiobook now, every character has been voice acted well, and they are distinct. I really hope you use the same narrator for the next two. :D

Thanks! Same narrator for the next book. Book 3 is contingent on sales of audio book 1 and 2.

J.L. Langland I am hoping that the whispersync feature is something that shows up later, either because it takes a bit of time or their trying to entice everyone into paying full price upfront and after a month or so the add the discounted price.

Tantor handled everything. They have other books that are whispersync'd so I'd have to believe it's a matter of time for one of those reasons.

Although to be fair, the ones I've got that are Tantor and Whispersync are about half as long as audio books go.

Gary To be fair, Tantor also does the audiobooks for Drew Hayes' Super Powereds series. They're between 19 and 41 hours long, and they offer the discount for purchasing the e-book.

So I would expect that they will eventually discount the books. I'd bet they will go a good month, or at least until book 2 is out, or has been out for a month or so.
