Michelle Madow has always been an author whose books I always look forward to and she's written another wonderful book. Vampires is a very tricky subject in YA because it's not quite easy to pull it off but Michelle Madow has done so in the most graceful and brilliant way. It's just as great as other popular Paranormal YA books yet differs enough to be special. Annika and Jacen are really compelling characters whose story is very easy to get into.
Annika is one girl who has gone through a LOT, from having her family murdered in front of her to immediately becoming a blood slave in the kingdom of the vampires Vale. Jacen is a Vampire Prince who was turned against his will by the Original Vampire Queen Laila. Through a series of both fortunate and unfortunate events, this two individuals meet each other. Their meeting sets in motion a lot of events that changed both their lives forever and revealed things about their life that they never knew.
Annika is a strong character because she's had a lot of sad stuff happen to her and yet she was never truly broken by it all. Having friends in the Vale did help her cope but she still has an inner strength that is admirable. Jacen has the most complicated life in the book. While he is bound to his sire Laila, He hates what she's turned him to and the life of a vampire Prince he has. Him learning control over his bloodlust and his situation was very great to read about. The further explorations of his connection with Annika was quite interesting, their feelings for each other still rings true despite it being instantaneous.
The traits of the vampires is well plotted and enough original ideas is blended with the plot still making it feel refreshingly original. The Vampire Wish has all the trademarks that made The Vampire Diaries and Twilight fan favorites. Vampires also aren't the only supernatural creatures in it, Witches, Werewolves, Angels and Nephilims are also involved though not all made an appearance in the first book.
There was very intriguing twists and turns towards the ending that was very entertaining and I didn't see coming which also elevated the quality of the book. The ending was exciting and has set up the plot for what is beginning to look like an interesting book 2. The Vampire Wish is a must have, any YA Paranormal fans will find themselves devouring this enchanting book.
Michelle Madow has made her fans proud yet again with another fantastic book from her.
