#RoW80 Update & a Sudden Flood of Sports

RoW80 Update:

Doing okay with the list I made on Sunday.

I worked through the first two editing tasks, which encompassed about 20 pages. Eric read last night and pointed out a tweak I need to make. Haven't don't any writing/editing yet today, so I'm in fair shape. The rest of the edits for this week will require more work.

I hadn't submitted Model Species anywhere since early July. My list from Sunday says "two new agents." I sorta fulfilled those criteria. Since I started submitting Model Species in January 2010, the query letter and the structure of the novel have undergone some changes. I resubmitted to an agent that I first queried a year and a half ago, and I queried a different agent at an agency I had also previously submitted to in Jan. '10. That should be kosher.

I've kept up on short story submissions, but I decided to pull a submission from a market that is current marked as "dead" on Duotrope and send it elsewhere. I think the story has promise, but it's been sitting in a dying market's slush pile since last October.

Sudden Flood of Sports:

It's US Open time. I've been catching the odd match online. Currently watching Bartoli/McHale. Good match. Sometimes, especially in Men's tennis, early round matches are little more than "high ranked player beating the snot out of un- or low-ranked player. " Women's tennis is a more interesting munge of talent.

Husker football on Saturday. It will be their first game in the Big 10, though non-conference. Very exciting.  Of course, college football leads to college basketball which is my indicator of winter. Therefore, football on Saturday means we're that much closer to winter.

League starts tomorrow night! Not for Eric and I, being on a Tuesday team, but for the Thursday crowd. I haven't played more than two or three times since women's league ended in June. Indeed, I haven't even exercised more than a couple times since then. I have no concept of how out of shape I am.
