What happens when you rest on your laurels...

When you are relaxing and resting on your laurels, then will overtake you...Relaxing is important, but too much of it can be deadly to your business and livelihood.Currently there is a general election in the UK, and the people and pollsters are saying that the Conservative party (British equivalent to the Republicans) will beat the Labour party (Democrats) in a landslide victory. When this was announced the Labour party sprang into action with marketing their message and telling the British voters what they will do and what they stand for.Because Labour have got so much to gain and have a chance to win, they are going all out in their marketing in at attempt to win the election.Conservatives, on the other hand, because they believed themselves to be a shoe in for a victory from day 1, they were not doing as much marketing or trying to win attention. But, because Labour are closing the gap between the voters and pollsters, Conservatives are starting to realise that their landslide is jeopardised, so they are starting to up their game. It is the classic hair vs. turtle, but the hare is starting to realise that the turtle is catching up and realises it has to pass the finishing line before the turtle does.Imagine a boxing gym- the trainer leaves the lights on for one extra hour every night. One day an amateur boxer asked the trainer why he leaves the lights on, and the trainer replied "because it is a chance for you to train for 1 extra hour a night. Out there right now is someone else training for an extra hour every day, and god forbid if you meet him in the ring in the future- because you'll lose". By training 1 extra hour a night, they could have an extra 5 hours a week, or an extra 16 days a year. You are praised publicly for what you do in private. You'll miss opportunity by simply not working and miss chances that you would have otherwise taken...The world will move on without you...Learn more about this topic in one of my books:How to get ahead as an entrepreneur
