I’ve been posting a lot of poems lately, but it’s been a while since I’ve posted a new one. Most of them have been at least a couple of weeks old, but this one is nice and fresh from a day or two ago. It’s about it being hot and stuff.
The women are wearing shirts
or long black dresses
with no strap on them,
leggings and tights,
short-sleeved t-shirts,
low-cut blouses,
foundation,concealer,
mascara and eyeliner,
plus bras and pants
and socks sometimes,
unless they’re barefoot.
I’m wearing pants,
socks, shoes,
blue jeans,
grey t-shirt,
one orange hoodie
and two bags beneath my eyes.
They said it’s sunny
and so it is,
but I’m somehow sensitive
to ultraviolet.
My idea
of the great outdoors
is opening
a window.
I do that sometimes
when I’m working from home
and then I close it again
because of dickheads
going up and down the hill
on quad bikes.
Those men wear leathers
or sometimes just
unemployed trackie bottoms
and job centre t-shirts.
My shirt came free
from some company.
But I’m not going to say
who sent it.
