apparently, retrowave is a thing, and it’s pretty awesome

I came across this album on Reddit yesterday, and it’s magnificent. Atlas, from FM-84, is the lush, synth-heavy soundtrack to every 1980s movie where a lone cop takes down the cocaine kingpin who murdered his family. Or maybe it’s that summer at the shore where you stay out all night, fall in love, and never see her again because that’s how it works when you’re 15. Whatever it means to you, I think you’ll love this, especially if you’re Gen X.

Zachary If you loved this album, check out Gunship by the band Gunship, it totally feels like a counterpart to this album, I think you'll really enjoy it.

AJ Gunship is one of the most addictive earworm albums I have ever listened to. And I would like to recommend Magic Sword's 'Volume 1'.

Couldn't agree more with the Magic Sword recommendation, that's my current favorite album.

Meowzabuth Yes, I too just discovered synthwave & outrun - and immediately bought a Perturbator and Carpenter Brut album. This FM-84 album is right up my alley, too. It's a genre that is a hell of a lot of fun for nostalgic types :) Will checkout Gunship, too. Through the magic of Twitter I discovered & started listening to a podcast called Beyond Synth. Great stuff.

Daniel YES!! Great album! I have recommendations for you... I got into Retrowave last year, and I can't get enough. Do yourself and a favour and look up these albums on YouTube:

1) Lazerhawk - Visitors
2) Lazerhawk - Dreamrider
3) VHS Dreams - Trans Am
4) Com Truise - Galactic Melt
5) VHS Glitch - Halloween Strangers

Sarah I've been digging the Starry Eyes soundtrack by Jonathan Snipes.

Cat It all sounds like the Eagles... mid 70's maybe, Sunset Grill! maybe early Don Henly solo period, early 80's..
