How to Help Indie Authors without Buying Their Books
Hello Everyone,
First off, let me thank you for reading my blog so far. I've given away free chapters and of course promoted my books through here, but haven't always given you advice on how you can help guys like me continue writing.
Buying the book of an unknown author is probably one of the biggest risks you'll take as a reader. Let's face it, we all have our favorite authors that no matter what they write, we will read it. We get personal with that writer even though we may know nothing about them. It's their voice we get used to, their written voice.
So of course, the big names like King, Baldacci, Roberts, O'Reilly, they are going to continue writing because they have their following. But what about other new writers? How is it that I can continue to write and I have only a smidge of the fanbase that these big names have? Well, because I want to, that's how.
But I, like hundreds of other Indie Authors need your support.
Let's say you may never read any of my books. But you like my blog, social media posts and well, my gorgeous book covers. But you don't want to risk spending any money on the stories themselves.
The answer is simple: Share, Like, and subscribe. That's it. Subscribe to this blog, share it with a friend. Seen one of my twitter posts? Retweet it. My name and book cover across the potential of hundreds of readers who may dive deeper into my works is worth it. One Retweet a day is a great mantra to have!
So, again, I'll ask you, the reader, if you are enjoying the free chapters of Growing Dim here on my blog, share the book cover on your social media. Doesn't mean you are obligated to purchase anything. It just says, "Hey, this guy's not bad. Someone else should read his books." And well, that someone else just might!
Anyway, us writers need fans to keep writing, even if most of us aren't making a living at this .....yet.
Sincerely,
Nicholas McGirr
