First Time on the First- April's Here No Foolin'

photo First Time on the First_zpsjihaygzu.png

Holy Smoly! It's April already. Easter and spring are around the corner. Baseball Opening Day is next week. April was a total sneak attack. LOL

So March was brisk with activity, but also it roared in and roared out like a herd of lions.
Weather-wise.
Our tribe here got hit with a wind storm around the time of the Ides of March- yeah, beware, indeed. Shakespeare called that one, didn't he?
Funny part, it just so happened to be our weekly garbage pick up day so I had the joy of chasing down three empty garbage bins and lids that were ours and collecting two lids and a bin out of our tree that were not ours. At least, the garbage was collected before the fierce part of the storm hit.
We had a few days with no power as a result and naturally that was when the temps plunged below freezing and gave us ice and snow.
Good news is that we lost no food from spoilage and the truly good news (luck O' the Irish, I guess though I'm not Irish so I guess I shouldn't be claiming that one, LOL) is that for all the damage that storm could have done, we lost no personal property.

On the Writing Front
Another roaring good piece of news was to see everyone's reaction to the cover reveal for our short story anthology, The Darcy Monologues. It's a team effort to be sure and there are so many non-author folks involved that I do indeed mean TEAM.

Now that the delicious TDM cover with so much pop is on the loose, we are gearing up for Release Day (yes, capital letters are necessary for the big enchilada). I've
enjoyed working on my tour guest post interview (I get to visit Debbie @ The Reading Frenzy's blog) and also work on this really cool idea Claudine had regarding fan girls (I'll say no more, you'll have to wait and see...)

I get in an odd sort of focus mood when I'm planning/writing/just written a story. It is there with me and I start to see parallels and symbolism everywhere that ties to my story (we will not discuss my craving for French Toast while I was writing this one).
This happened the other night when I was watching a pre-season baseball game for my favorite San Francisco Giants team because my story for TDM is set against the baseball sports world.
I made the correlation that TDM is in the pre-season, too. Our cover reveal tour and Amazon e-book pre-order is our pre-Season. And I am greatly anticipating our big Opening Day (Release date, May 22).
And oh yes, I've been looking over this year's teams for my Will 'the Dandy' Darcy and his buddy Richie Fitzwilliam to make an appearance. Maybe they're at a press junket meeting with sportswriter, Liz Bennet...

So what about you? How was your March? Any Mother Nature on a bender stories for you? Did it fly by? Making any Easter or spring plans (yes, I will be doing some spring cleaning tasks and they count, ugh)? Are you a baseball fan? What Jane Austen character would you like to see out in the ball field?

J. W. Garrett Only you Sophia... I think Austen characters, especially the men, transfer perfectly to the ball field. Austen gave us such memorable examples in her men characters. There is honor and less honor, strength and weakness [I didn't say Collins... sheez]. So the bad boys work, the good guys most definitely work, and even the women fit. If you look closely, you will even see groupies within her characters. OMG! You really have something there.

Now as to my March: 3:00 A.M. split pipe flooded my mudroom/laundry. Frantic calls to the Water Co hotline, and a plumber as we diverted water to an outside door with a squeegee. Then we spent the next several days with fans trying to dry out the wet areas. I hate seeing that water bill. Ah spring.

I am so looking forward to your book launch. I need a diversion. Best wishes on your launch Sophia. I am so excited for you and the other authors.

Note: I've noticed in the give-a-ways that you have to Facebook or twitter; unfortunately, not everyone faces, tweets, snaps, chats or... whatever. Just an observation.

The characters and their personalities so easily transfer to any age, for sure. Good point.

Oh no! You had quite the nasty surprise with the pipes. Yeah, and a water bill on top of cleaning up a mini flood would be salt to the wound. Too bad, it wasn't summer so you could re-purpose the flood waters to use in your garden or something.

Thanks for the best wishes. Yay, glad you would choose TDM for a diversion (water bill troubles).

Yes, and I do feel badly that those without social media can't participate in the giveaways because I would love to see everyone be able to get their chance to win.
Everyone who chooses not to have these have pretty compelling reasons not to so I know its not just a simple issue of quickly signing up for them. Social Media is definitely a two-edged sword.
You're here on GR so maybe when physical copies come out then there might be a giveaway here. I'm not in charge of it so I'm just guessing, but it would be cool, right?

Thanks for visiting my post, Jeanne, and may you not be fooled today. :)

J. W. Garrett As far as the give-a-ways... it's all good. I get to buy my very own copy... and support my favorite authors... so no worries.

And in reference to social media... no way will I have it unless compelled to. Back in the day, while I was still in the classroom, students hacked my cellphone and did quite a bit of mischief with my account. They changed my greeting to something nasty [informed any male caller what I could or would do for them], ran up my bill [didn't have a plan back then], gave my number out to friends who called and left messages... some were pretty creative and nasty, erased saved messages, etc. So... for me, social media has been off limits as far as I am concerned.

Sophia And you prove my point. What a horrid experience for you and I'm angry on your behalf though I know it's not recent so that's futile.

Appreciate your support of the authors by purchasing a book. I know you could choose of so many other wonderful books. :)

Teresa Lovely post Sophia. Good luck with the book. I'm kinda with J W. I don't do FB or Twitter or any of that stuff. GoodReads is as good as it gets for me. I know I miss a lot from authors by not being on FB but it's still not tempting me to join.
March flew here too and we've had at least five different weathers. I'm longing to get out in the garden but no such luck. The potatoes will be late again this year.

Yes, GoodReads is my most active place to hang out on line besides the blogs. It's a fantastic means of connecting with people.

Wow, five! You definitely get some changeable weather there. My garden is started inside in my seeding trays and I have to keep it in the dining room window until at least May because of threat of frost, but so worth it. Love the fresh veggies, herbs, and the pretty flowers.

Teresa Me too Sophia. The taste of your own home grown produce has to be eaten to believed. And seeing the results of your hard work come to fruition is a wonderful feeling.

Sophia Absolutely!

message 9: by Mary (new)

Mary Sophia,I really enjoyed your post! I wish you and the rest of the authors of TDM the very best,I know it will be well received!!

Gotta admit that I'm with Jeanne and Teresa with regards social media. Am totally allergic to all forms of it,my only exception being GR,which I love!!

Yes,as Teresa has said,March gave us here in the Emerald Isle beautiful sunny, warm days, followed by rain, wind, first and snow!!

Happy reading !!

message 10: by Sophia (new)

Sophia Glad you enjoyed it, Mary! And yay, thanks for the vote of confidence.

The social media thing is definitely a deterrent I know.

You gals have had quite the weather roulette thing going on. :)

message 11: by Candy (new)

Candy Hey, Sophia Rose! Congrats on TDM! I'm so happy you are one of the authors!

My March flew by (as most months seem to do these days!) with a Spring Break and a lovely visit from my daughter.

As I was pulling my Easter stuff from the cabinet in the garage, I spied quite a few termite tunnels! Those little buggers had been busy sometime between Christmas and now! Not the surprise I wanted to see. Lol!

We saw a lot of much-needed rain here in SoCal this winter. Happy day! I love the rain.

Have a fantastic April!

Sophia Hey, good to hear from you, Candy!

Love that you had a great visit with your daughter and a good Spring Break. Ugh, on the termites. Pesky varmites!

You guys definitely needed the rain. I loved seeing the drought chart going smaller and smaller until it disappeared for you all.

Thanks, and you do the same! :)
