I am often intrigued when a writer engages in self-reflection. There is this "well-knowing" voice in my head when I read these that says, "Write what you enjoy writing and your readers will respond." But, my writing is for enjoyment supported by a paying career. Your post reminds me that working, publishing writers need to consider the market, the competition, marketing, and a myriad of other elements in addition to the creation of a story. Thank you for your thoughts.
