THE CARTER CHRONICLES-THE DATE

"Adriana glanced down at her phone as she heard three hard knocks at her front door. He was on time. Although she was ready, she had decided to give her long, dark hair a few final brush strokes. She placed her brush down on the bathroom counter and turned to the left and right, giving her body a final inspection. She nodded. Yep, this would do. As she walked across her bedroom, three more quick raps on the front door sounded throughout the apartment. She reached the door and turned the knob. Her breath caught as she took a step back.

Rhys stood just outside the doorway. His...suit was perfectly fitted, emphasizing his broad shoulders, expansive chest and narrow hips. His facial hair, just shy of being a beard, stood out against his bronze skin.... His eyes widened as he stared at her for a few precious seconds before slowly trailing down her body. She watched patiently as they made their journey back to her face. Finally, his eyes met hers.

'You look...beautiful,' he said, his voice soft and husky."
