What was your inspiration for this story?
Patience Worthington, the heroine. She’d had such a bad marriage the first time and it was clear she was suffering.
How much research do you do?
A lot. Customs, mores, clothing, transportation, buildings, you name it. If it appears in the book I’ve researched it.
Who was your first auto-buy historical romance author?
In historical romance, Georgette Heyer. I love her characters, witt, and attention to detail. Although, because she believed Barbara Cartland was copying her, Ms. Heyer would include one or two facts that were not correct in each book.
