“Superstition” – Stevie Wonder – Live Looping Cover

I recorded this one the same day as “Shut Up and Dance” as you can tell by the same outfit and the “I forgot to look in the mirror” look I have going on.  This one is one of my favorite covers to play and people usually respond pretty well.

I’ve been doing a lot more lately with subtle mouth percussion to help thicken and sweeten the drum loops I build. In this case it has to be pretty thick and driving to carry the B section where the entire harmonic loops go away and I just play power chords over the drum loop.

Back in the day I was a vocal percussionist for an a cappella group and was able to actually do fairly legit sounding kick and snare sounds, but man that takes practice. I have my hands full enough already!
