Unless you’re an iconic writer whose every word gets adapted into a film that’ll at least make its budget back, you’re on social media, whorin’ yourself out like your pimp is three seconds from going Wayne Brady on your ass.
If you have any kind of soul, it feels kinda icky, like binge-watching Toddlers & Tiaras (don’t ever watch that). Also, it might not be all that effective–people get numb...

My first paid writing assignment was as columnist for THE CLARION CALL, Clarion University's student newspaper (I was officially the "Circulation Manager", but the job was so mind-numbingly simple it took five minutes and the outgoing Editorial Board, upon giving me the job, pointed out that they just wanted to give me something that would put me in the bullpen). Since then, I've dabbled with the idea of nonfiction writing again--scratch a writer, get someone who can't shut their goddamned mouth--but I'm a lazy researcher and while I was an okay journalist, I enjoyed just riffing on things. So there you go.
