Have you used your escape hatch?

So, full confession time... thinking about my most recent review of IF I COULD FLY...

I remembered back to the event that inspired the book, the week I almost, yes almost, took the escape hatch. I was in love with an older guy who'd just graduated and moved across the country. The first week I cried and the second, I plotted my getaway . At nineteen, with a decent sized bank account, I could've followed him. But I didn't.

How would my life be different, I've often wondered. At nineteen, a short vacation from college shouldn't have affected my life that much, right? But I'd never been a risk taker, and I'm still not.

In Drops of Sunshine, I repeated this theme without realizing it. Reading Drops of Sunshine's most recent review, made it all too clear.
